For purposes of this event a Pro is defined as a Giant 32 or any player who the directors believe are on the same skill level as a Giant 32 player.  An Open player is anyone who plays in the Open Division of major tournaments or the directors believe would be required to play in the Open Division if they attended a major tournament.  An Amateur is anyone else.  Any player wishing to move up his classification to a higher level may do so.

Side Pool. 100% return.

Giants or equal (See HANDICAPS above) will be pros for this event. All others are considered amateurs. If we get more amateurs than pro’s the top-rated Open players will become pro’s so as to have even number of teams.

Money Matches:  All games are played like money games, using the Jacoby rule but no beavers.     Whoever is up the most points at the end of the hour advances, and the point differential also determines cash returns for each round.  A clock is used to minimize stalling and keep games moving quickly.

PaksoGammon is where each player takes turns starting in a massive back game.

Mini-matches are 1point matches.

SpeedGamon are 5 point matches played with a clock at quick settings.  There is a 10 second delay on every move and 2 minutes of reserve time.  If you run out of time, you lose the match.

Blitzes of 5 point matches.

Beat The Pro: Players will have the opportunity to challenge one or two of the top players in the world to a short match.

This is a private, invitational event.  The Tournament Directors reserve the right to reject any entrant for any reason.   Standard USBGF Rules shall apply including legal moves, clocks and standard clock settings in all major events except where specified; one pair of dice; baffle boxes preferred (unless both players prefer not to use a baffle box).   Players are encouraged to call a director to settle any question or dispute. If a player wishes to appeal a director’s decision to the rules committee, he may do so, and the decision of the rules committee shall be final.

Invitational and Pro-Am entry fees to be wired to Cook Travel, or contact Phil Simborg for other arrangements.  If you wish to wire more funds to cover other tournament fees you may do so. Large prizes will be wired to your account or available at the counters of our designated bank in Freeport. Only Cash payments  will be accepted at the tournament.
